For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.”
2 Chronicles 16:9
This verse reminds us of the Lord’s all-seeing presence and His desire to support and strengthen those who are devoted to Him.
In the context of the verse, King Asa of Judah had just experienced a great victory over an invading army. Instead of giving credit to the Lord for this victory, however, Asa relied on his own strength and the strength of his army. The prophet Hanani rebuked Asa for this, reminding him that it was the Lord who had given him the victory and that it was only through the Lord’s strength that he was able to succeed.
This verse serves as a reminder for us to always turn to the Lord and rely on His strength, rather than our own. When we are fully committed to the Lord, He will strengthen and support us in all that we do. This does not mean that we will not face challenges and hardships, but it does mean that we can trust in the Lord’s presence and guidance.
In a world that often encourages us to rely on our own abilities and resources, it can be easy to forget the power and support of the Lord. 2 Chronicles 16:9 reminds us to keep our hearts fully committed to the Lord and to trust in His strength to guide and support us. As we turn to Him and rely on His strength, we can face any challenge with confidence and courage.
